This is a super simple, yet high impact, project for creating three different sizes of spun cotton carrot ornaments.  Carrots can be added to Easter baskets, tied onto gifts, hung as ornaments on Easter trees and more!

Supplies: Spun Cotton Carrot Shapes,  Miniature Leaves and Carrot Tops, Craft Paint (in two shades of orange), Paint Brushes, Scissors, Glue, Wire (22 or 24 gauge - or use the wire stems from leaves)

Step 1: Paint your carrots orange all over.  Let dry.  Add stripes using a lighter shade of orange. Let dry.  We used Martha Stewart Crafts Paint in "Pumpkin" all over and "Salmon" for the stripes.

Step 2: Separate greenery bundles, trim excess wire stems and arrange pieces for carrot tops.

For the largest carrot we used 4 sprigs of the large carrot tops (the full bundle has 12 sprigs).

For the medium carrot we made two styles and used either 5 fern fronds or 3 sprigs of the small carrot tops (full bundles of fronds and small carrot tops both contain 12 sprigs/stems).

For the tiny carrot we used 1 sprig of the small carrot tops (the full bundle has 12 sprigs).

Step 3: Create loop hangers by twisting a small length of wire around the handle of a paint brush.  You can use stems cut from the leaves in the previous step.

Step 4: Glue hangers and greenery into holes at tops of carrots.  Let dry.  

Tips: Use a skewer or pipe cleaner in the hole as a "handle" when painting and drying, too.

We used fabric greenery but you can create your own carrot tops from crepe or craft paper.

You may need to enlarge the holes in the tops of the carrots to accommodate the greenery on the large carrot -- we like to use needle nose pliers.
