This is a super simple, yet high impact, project that requires just a few supplies to create.

Supplies: Spun Cotton Craft Shapes, Glitter, Narrow Dresden Borders, Paint, Paint Brushes, Scissors, Glue, Wire (20 or 22 gauge)

Step 1: Paint your spun cotton pieces -- we chose bright colors for the bulbs and metallic gold for the bases.  Let dry.

Step 2: Glue painted bulbs to bases to make light bulbs.  Let dry.

Step 3: Add glitter by lightly coating with craft glue and sprinkling with glitter. Let dry.  We used a very light hand to add snowy glass glitter to just the bulb for a frosted effect.

Step 4: Create "screw threads" on the bulb base using about 6" of Dresden border.  Make one complete pass around the seam where the bulb and base meet, then work the border up at an angle to the top edge.  Make a complete pass around the top edge.  Glue in place and let dry completely.  If you space your "threads" closely, you can fit 3-4 rows of border.

Step 5: Create a loop hanger by twisting a small length of wire around the handle of a paint brush.  Bend the free ends of the wire into a hook shape.

Step 6: Glue loop hangers in place by putting a few small drops of glue in the holes on the bulb bases and gently but securely inserting the hook ends.

Tips: Spun cotton pieces have holes -- use a skewer or pipe cleaner in the hole as a "handle" when painting and drying, too.

Make your bases look realistic by using a metallic paint in the same shade as the Dresden border: Gold + gold or silver + silver.

Don't add glitter to the light bulb base -- you want to be able to see your Dresden trims.

Try coordinating your glitter to your bulb color, or choose white for a frosty look.

Add glitter lightly -- you can always add more later!
